Constellation

from Path of Desolation by Deadlight Holiday

/

about

As soon as we wrote this song we knew we had something good going for us. This was the first song that we were excited to play live.

Initially the song as written by myself (Kp) on an acoustic guitar. The song featured a lot of interesting industrial elements that were largely stripped away when adapting it to a live band setting. The preliminary lyrics of the first verse were written by myself as a placeholder that ended up sticking. Shane Seppala called me up in the middle of the night with an idea for a chorus, and the very next day we wrote the rest of the lyrics. This was our first collaborative endeavor, and would set the lyrical direction for the album to follow.

lyrics

Don’t take my word, just come and see it

The falling embers, the change of seasons

Your fragile words, fall into spaces

Your sacred ground, your devastation

Another constellation

across the galaxy

to believe what can’t be seen

is the only thing I need

Another Destination

So far in infancy

Just waiting for the silence

We wait and see

To the path we keep on walking

upon the road we know

to the path of desolation

trample on this hollow road

To the path we keep adhering

upon the road we know

and now the dust is clearing

with nowhere left to go

Another constellation

across the galaxy

to believe what can’t be seen

is the only thing I need

Another Destination

So far in infancy

Just waiting for the silence

We wait and see
